how to find us

How do I get there and organize everything else?

We can organize your full trip- from your arrival at the airport in Nairobi to your departure. We work with several tour operators that can customize your trip, allowing you to experience Kenya and the various parks and other sites at your own pace. This typically includes vehicle hire (four wheel drive that is suitable for game drive), driver and pre-arranged lodge/hotel bookings to fit your interests and budget. Please be sure to let us know in your “request for information” that you are interested in exploring these options.

Coming from Nairobi on your own?

Driving?

Plan on traveling for about 5 plus hours depending on traffic! From Nairobi travel 150 Kms to Narok, (good tarmac road, via Rift Valley); from Narok drive 86 Kms towards Sekanani, good sign posting along the way, half dirt and gravel road and somewhat rough, slow going!; 1500 meters before Sekanani Masai Mara game park entrance gate, at Sekanani village, veer to the left at the first “Mama Safi” sign post; drive for 2 Kms, on stoney African bush tracks following 3 more Mama Safi sign posts, the last of  which is the entry to the property on your left; proceed 300 meters up hill to the houses.

There are several commuter airlines with whom you can book flights to the Mara. Look for flights to Keekorok, located about 20 Kms or 20 minutes from the Mama Safi property or Siana Springs, located about 12 Kms from the property. We can organize this as part of a full trip itinerary and arrange for pick up, saving you lots of road trip time!

Other stuff you need to know?

Self-Catering?

If you decide to self-cater (or cook your own meals!) while at Mama Safi, we advise that you shop for your food purchases at one of the many Nakumatt, Uchumi or Chandarana supermarkets in Nairobi or Naivas in Narok. The houses are completely stocked with cooking gear from utensils to an assortment of pots and pans and glass cooking ware to a proper coffee press, so you can cook virtually anything you and your family desires! But, we don’t keep food staples in stock (tough to keep fresh!). You will need to bring everything but salt and pepper. There are some dry goods available in the nearby town, Sekanani, but options are very limited.

Catering?

This is our fancy way of saying we can arrange for a cook to prepare your meals during your stay at Mama Safi properties. All we would need from you is an idea of menu options, any dietary restrictions and we can arrange the food and cooking services. Be sure to let us know if you want to arrange this option when you send us an email to request information/ reservations.
